Pepa Šindel, successful summer climbs - Hades and Pornographie
You know, summer, hot, you run to the pool rather than to the crags, but there are those who do the hardest work even in summer. And one of them is Pepa Sindel, only 16 years old. Not only the Czech, but also the world climbing scene has been amazed by his performance for some time now, and during this summer he managed to climb two absolutely legendary 9a – Hades a Pornographie!
And how does Pepa evaluate his climbs?
"I started my summer holidays in the Austrian area of Nassereith, where I managed to climb the Hades 9a route. Hades is a 20-meter endurance route, right in the middle of the Götenwandl overhanging face. Hades consists of an easier intro, 3 hard boulders and a finish on small crimps. The main difficulty is that there is no rest between the boulders and every little mistake will cause a lack of strength in the last steps.
I tried Hades for the first time in the summer of 2023, but unfortunately the send failed. So we returned to it during the autumn break. I was really close, but the ascent was still nowhere to be found... So the plan for this year's holiday was clear - finish it. And after the conditions improved, I sent Hades up there! In fact, he gave me a hell of a hard time. My hardest 9a yet.
From Austria we moved to Frankenjura, Germany, where I tried the Clasified 9a/9a+ route. I was falling high in the boulder, but my fingers were too ragged to try for long. So we moved on to the Cëúse area of France.
The main objective was the legendary Biographie 9a+ route. But at the last minute I changed my mind and took the Pornography route. It's a 20 meter power endurance on small crimps. It was very warm in France the whole time, so I'm glad I was able to climb the route in such conditions without using a knee pad.''
